In the rear, there are new enclosures for tail lights that are square that are also equipped with L-shaped light images. A brand-new Zircon Sand color (pictured below) is added to the palette of paints for the crossover. In Europe, the top-quality CX-5 models will come with the modern “one color” finish, with body-color paint applied to the sills on the sides and wheel arch protectors. They also have lower bumpers and the wing mirror caps.
Interior
In the Continent there’s also a vibrant Newground trim that has lime green accents for the grille, stitching inside as well as around the vents in the cabin. Regarding interior changes to the cabins, the biggest changes are to the seats as well as the new Qi wireless charging pad for smartphones. There are also trim updates available, but those looking for a digital instrumentation display and other features will need to continue to wait.

European models of CX-5 are now available with a reversible two-piece floorboard and Newground variants that come that are covered on one side with water-resistant materials. In the tiniest of details, Mazda says it has provided the CX-5 an improved structure and redesigned the suspension. The automaker further states that “road noise has also been greatly reduced, particularly when driving on rough surfaces such as gravel”.
Engine
Mazda’s European operations are yet to divulge details of the drivetrain regarding the new crossover. In the US, however, it’s not the case. In America, however, CX-5 facelift will continue with the model’s 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated 140kW/252Nm turbocharged 170kW/420Nm engines.nIn for the 2022 revision, Mazda USA will be dropping front-wheel drive models from its model range.

In Australia, 2 2.5-liter engines are available only with all-wheel drive as well as a six-speed auto, just like the 140kW/450Nm 2.2-litre turbo-diesel. The present Australian range is also available with an all-wheel drive model that is with 115kW/200Nm of power 2.0-litre. We’ll likely be waiting until closer than the Australian launch date to learn what the new car’s choices for the drivetrain.
