Kia Stinger GT and the other exterior designs using the Kodo Soul of Motion styling language. Front fascias are certainly gorgeous and the Maserati GranTurismo-inspired style isn’t too bad either. The long hood and short deck also translate to bite-the-back-of-your-hand beautiful proportions. And even more impressive is the fact that Mr. Gonzales took inspiration for the design of the brake lights from the Mazda3 sedan and hatchback, and the headlights sport a hint of Mazda6 inside. The eye-socket-style design could be attributed to McLaren’s newest Super Series models as well as the 720S. Wishful thinking is an issue but think about the fact that the rotary is not simply an anomaly in the automobile world. Mazda is the sole automaker to have won at the 24 Hours of Le Mans without a rotating engine design. The 787B sports-prototype racing car was the one to win in 1991, winning the world’s top endurance race just two times ahead of the V12-powered Jaguar XJR-12, and seven laps faster than the V8 engined Sauber Mercedes C11.

It’s an impressive machine certainly and is one of the most impressive images we’ve seen of the new RX. There was some exciting speculation about a new motorized rotary car to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Mazda in 2020, however, it’s unlikely to be the case. We’ll keep our fingers crossed that the lessons learned from the creation of the range-expanding engine could bring about the return of the RX. For now, the only option is to look at the RX-Vision and renders such as this one.
