New 2022 Mazda BT-50 1.9-Litre Diesel – Its 2022 Mazda BT-50 SUV is being updated to accommodate this year’s model featuring an upgraded 1.9-liter diesel engine which is shared with Isuzu and a top-of-the-line SP version. Prices have yet to be announced.

2022 Mazda BT-50 Engine
The entry-level XS model is available in single-cab 4×2 and 4×2 dual-cab as well as dual-cab configurations in 4×4 – has been added to the lineup for 2022 and is powered by an all-new 110kW/350Nm 1.9-litre turbocharged diesel engine that is shared with its counterpart underneath that is that of the Isuzu D-Max. It is only available with an automatic transmission with six speeds and is designed to haul up to three tons (rather than 3500kg for 3.0-liter turbodiesel models).
New Design
The base model Mazda BT-50 XS variant rides on 17-inch steel wheels, with all other standard equipment items unchanged from the identically-specified XT variant, which offers the familiar 140kW/450Nm 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Then, it’s time to step up. Mazda BT-50 XTR is powered by the current 3.0-liter engine and six-speed auto which is shared with Isuzu. The Mazda BT-50 GT trim – exclusively available as a 4×4 dual-cab pick-up – gains creature comforts such as electrically adjustable seats and parking sensors, while a sport-themed Mazda BT-50 SP variant with black accents and unique features is also offered for the first time.

The most popular Mazda BT-50 Thunder dual-cab – built on the GT and incorporating an aluminum Bullbar and LED Lightbar Black alloys 18 inches, sidestep, and tub liner – keeps its position in the upper tier of line. Based on feedback from customers, the Mazda BT-50’s invasive lane-keep assist system was also updated to provide better capabilities. Drivers can turn off the sometimes overly-frenzied technology for lane-keeping by pressing down the button on their steering wheel, instead of having to go through a series of steps on the menu when the vehicle is stopped. It’s unclear why this straightforward option isn’t available for the Isuzu D-Max twin, which utilizes the same technology.
Colors
Seven shades will be available within the newly updated collection: Ice White, True Black, Mica Ingot, Silver Metallic, Concrete Grey, Mica Gun. Blue Mica, Rock Grey, Mica Red, and Volcano Mica.
